Don’t Struggle to Pay Your Utility Bill
Has the winter left you out in the cold? Do you dread the that brown envelope coming through your door? You are not alone, over 2 million households in Britian will struggle to pay their utility bills this year.
That isn’t a prospect many would relish yet by the end of 2006 there will be more people than ever suffering from fuel poverty where they will be spending at least 10& of their income on fuel bills.
You may be one of the people affected and wonder how you can stop getting into fuel poverty before it hits.

As the weather gets warmer it is easy to forget the cold of winter, until it is too late and you find yourself caught in the never ending cycle of bills, and more fuel poverty.
Check all your windows and doors and make sure they are draught proofed. For a small amount of money there are various things you can buy to make sure you are not literally throwing your money out of the window.

Set your thermostat comfortably low in the winter and comfortably high in the summer. Install a programmable thermostat that is compatible with your heating system.
Use compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Air dry dishes instead of using your dishwasher’s drying cycle.
Turn off your computer and monitor when not in use.
Plug home electronics, such as TVs and DVD players, into power strips; turn the power strips off when the equipment is not in use (TVs and DVDs in standby mode still use several watts of power).
Lower the thermostat on your hot water heater to 120� F.
Take short showers instead of baths.
Wash only full loads of dishes and clothes.
Every little helps, so start today and avoid being one of the statistics.
